Craft that begins in the sea

A little, made with care.

In the sea of Yura Peninsula, Uwajima, we raise each Akoya oyster with care.

Tensei Pearl has chosen "Koshimono" pearls, grown for about two years, and a way of making pearls that keeps our harvest small.

The sea of Yura Peninsula that nurtures pearls

Uwajima in Ehime Prefecture is one of Japan's leading pearl-producing areas.

Our hometown, Yura Peninsula in the Shimonada area, lies at the southern tip of Uwajima. Blessed with rich nature and surrounded by deep inlets formed by the currents of the Bungo Channel and the ria coastline, it is an area very well suited to pearl cultivation.

With these blessings of nature, and by making the most of the power of living things and human skill, fine pearls are nurtured.

Our commitment to "Koshimono"

Made to last

Tensei Pearl mainly produces "Koshimono" pearls, cultivated for about two years.

Growing pearls for two years carries risks: fewer mother oysters survive, and natural marks called "ekubo" (dimples) can form.

On the other hand, the nacre grows thicker and the luster unique to pearls gains depth. The pearls are also less likely to change color over the years.

To deliver pearls you can wear for a long time, we are committed to "Koshimono".

03

A little, made with care

Small quantity, high quality

Learning from the mass die-off of Akoya oysters that began around 1994, Tensei Pearl limits the amount it cultivates.

We raise each Akoya oyster with care, without putting too much strain on nature.

We process the pearls we grow ourselves, and sell each one with care.

Limiting production, not selling wholesale, and delivering directly to customers: this too is a choice we make in order to face each pearl.

By handling everything ourselves, from cultivation to processing and sales, we face each pearl and deliver fine pearls directly to those who want them.

Cultivation process

At Tensei Pearl, we grow pearls by making use of the natural environment of Yura Peninsula, Uwajima, keeping our harvest small and watching the condition of each Akoya oyster.

We focus on "Koshimono" pearls grown for about two years, and handle everything in-house, from cultivation to processing and sales.

"A little, made with care."

That is Tensei Pearl's approach to making pearls.
